Anurag Panda joined the Energy and Technology Policy Group in September 2024 as a Senior Researcher. His research interests are to understand technology innovation processes for technologies that can contribute to sustainable development. He is particularly interested in informing industrial policy design for green growth in low- and middle-income countries.
Anurag's journey into academic research on public policy began with a fellowship at external page The Belfer Center of the Harvard Kennedy School, where he researched climate-related technology policy in India. Previously, he has worked at the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India. Before transitioning to public policy work, Anurag researched solar cells and LEDs made of novel semiconductor materials. As part of his work, he was the co-lead of the GridEdge Solar research program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His accomplishments earned him the recognition of Forbes 30 Under 30 and nomination to attend the 73rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting.
He holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art.
