Lingxi Tang joined the Energy and Technology Policy Group as a PhD candidate in March 2024. His research focuses on identifying variables which determine learning rates of sustainable technologies and manufacturing processes. His work is funded by the external page PRISMA project and aims to enhance technological innovation modelling and improve technology cost forecasting.
Lingxi holds a Master of Engineering in Engineering Science from the external page University of Oxford, having specialised in Control Engineering and Sustainable Energy. During his studies, he was involved in student consulting projects on sustainability and energy. He had also completed internships at external page Huazhong University of Science and Technology and external page Gorenje, both focusing on applied machine learning. He then continued to complete his thesis by developing an AI model for installed solar capacity forecasting at a substation level. After graduating, Lingxi maintains an interest in AI technologies and co-authored a external page paper on the compromise between AI regulation and international trade laws.
Prior to joining EPG, Lingxi worked at external page AFRY Management Consulting, where he gained experience in energy market consulting and commodity price projections. His notable works at AFRY include building on the databases for the Chinese and Australian electricity markets, as well as projecting hydrogen prices for a governmental agency.
In his spare time, Lingxi goes to the gym, plays badminton, keeps his Duolingo streak alive and plans his next snowboarding trip.
