Abhishek Malhotra joined the Energy and Technology Policy Group in February 2015 as a PhD candidate. After successfully defending his PhD in Spring 2019, he worked as a postDoc at EPG and was appointed as Asisstant Professor at the external pageInsitute of Public Policy of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2020. His research focuses on policy design for low-carbon development. In particular, he is interested in how policies can be designed taking into account multiple policy goals in the energy sector, as well as specificities of the technologies they target.

Besides his PhD from ETH Zurich, Abhishek holds a Master’s degree in Energy Science and Technology from ETH Zurich and a Bachelor of Technology in mechanical engineering from the external pageIndian Institute of Technology Delhi. During his studies, he received the external pageSwiss Government Excellence Scholarship (ESKAS) for international students and the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) Scholarship.

Abhishek has worked as a consultant for the United Nations Development Program, as an intern for the external pageInternational Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Bonn, and at the external pageDivision on Technology and Logistics of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva.

In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, rooting for Arsenal FC and producing sounds on his guitar.
