Lynn Kaack is an affiliate of the Energy and Technology Policy Group. In this group, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher and lecturer from April 2019 until July 2021. In August 2021, she left EPG to become external pageAssistant Professor of Computer Science and Public Policycall_made at the Hertie School in Berlin. Her research addresses energy systems and climate mitigation policy, and she uses methods from policy analysis, statistics, and machine learning. She is a chair of external pageClimate Change AIcall_made, an organization facilitating work that meaningfully addresses climate change and is well-served by machine learning tools. Lynn is also a member of the external pageAustrian Council on Robotics and AIcall_made. She has published on the topics of energy forecasting and decarbonization of freight transportation in Proceedings of the National Academies of Science and Environmental Research Letters.
Lynn holds a PhD from the external pageDepartment of Engineering and Public Policycall_made at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). During her PhD, she also earned a Master’s in Machine Learning from CMU’s external pageMachine Learning Departmentcall_made.
